The Littlest Muslim Back To School!

In the name of God, compassionate & merciful بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ | Peace be with you السلام عليكم

I can finally relax after a stressful week of back to school mayhem, and thanks to Ramadan my life has now become a little more amusing.

The going to school routine is always the same; I study, socialise, read and then go home. The constant repetition of a dull studious day does at times seem depressing and irritating but Masha’Allah I have awesome friends that keep me focused on my studies.

I’ve noticed that at times some teachers find my ‘Ramadan Habits’ either strange or frustrating.

I have this habit of sneaking a Tasbih into my blazer pocket to make dhikr (remembrance of Allah) so teachers will usually see me with my right arm stuck in my pocket for majority of the day (imagine bizarre staring adults focusing on every single movement you make).

I also continuously read Islamic books and occasionally tend to read during lessons; this often leads to the books getting confiscated but thankfully returned after a period of time!

When I finally came back to school after the holidays I expected friendly jokes and getting teased by others especially by my non-Muslim friends (yes I have non-Muslim friends and yes they are awesome). What happens is that despite knowing I’m fasting, they would purposely ask me if I wanted food or eat very slowly while sitting directly in front of me and even though they don’t know much about Islam they still motivate me to stay strong while I’m fasting (very sweet).

My Muslim friends (Masha’Allah the best of friends that you can only be thankful for) are the opposite of that however: they also motivate me to stay strong even though they are struggling themselves. Since the majority of my friends are girls there is obviously a time when one or two of us won’t be able to fast. What happens with them is that before I enter a room where all my friends are relaxing and talking there will be this one Muslim girl who isn’t fasting and she will (literally) dive to hide her cheese sandwich resting on the table (not a necessary action but it is a very thoughtful one and for that thank you).

Unfortunately I have a bunch of coursework to do and I have heaps of study books lying all over my floor waiting to have the dust wiped off them. I have exams soon so Insha’Allah I must work hard to earn the best grades possible and Insha’Allah please make Duas for me I would really appreciate it!

JazakAllah Khair.
