I was appalled at the behavior of the rioting Muslim crowds yesterday at the Harrow Mosque counter- demonstration. I'll make this brief; but before I dwell unto the grotesquely shameful confines of the misgivings elegantly showcased by the torch bearers of 'Islam', let us first discuss the cause-and-effect of our social degradation in the UK.
I think the problem in Britain is the 'vacuum' of an integral leadership representative of Muslims that has left many a youngsters wallow in a misdirected sense of energy; where the end justifies the means and the means justifies the end. The only problem is; there's no one definition to the notion of the 'end' or the 'means' - thus resulting in a scattered sense of purpose which inevitably leads to dysfunction.
I have alot of family who have been living in the UK for the past 40 years, and as much as I've had the chance of visiting the country off and on throughout my life; I have yet to see learned, passionate or qualified leaders from amongst the Muslim populace that would stand up and resonate their voice as a collective emblem of the community; thereby amalgamating constructively the demographics that constitute its fabric.
It is exactly this kind of 'absence' of central authority that subsequently paves the way for protests and demonstrations being lost in translation. Evidently, there is a wide schism that exists within the possible circles of leadership. The gap that de-facilitates the crossing over of passionate minds unto the folds of responsible and qualified leadership, is as wide as the distance between Prince Charle's front teeth.
This is no rocket science and if there is one thing that history has taught us, its the fact that to galvanize any revolution in the aspirations of forwarding any cause; a community needs to take collective responsibility and work towards establishing a platform where the rightly guided, passionate and visionary young minds of today, can become the leaders of tomorrow.
It is sad that most of our youth are so confounded in the bigotry of their own 'self-righteous' delusions, that in the process they not only lose sight of exhibiting the true essence of how a Muslim ought to behave; but also compromise the very values that 'should' embody a true slave of Allah swt in the first place. I know that this particular demonstration had some mature and intelligent brothers who were there to 'actually' make a civil / humane show of defiance in the pursuit of making a difference by standing up against the malicious fascism of the racist thugs at BNP / EDL / SIOE - such as Brother Abdullah Al Andalusi, Zakkariya King and the likes - but sadly like always these protests turn into moronic carnivals of religious hooliganism feat utter chaos [ remix version ] , thereby resulting in the actual 'purpose' of the defiance being lost in translation altogether!
How sad is that?
To be honest, looking at the pictures, I find nothing but a bunch of overly fumed up ignorant youngsters bumping into eachother as if a lottery jackpot has just been announced at the local fish market.
Where's the glory in that?
Where's the pride in that?
Where exactly is 'protecting' Islam in that?
What's worse, is the fact that we're in the last 10 days of the blessed month; a month where a Muslim is supposed to restrain his inner and external self by practicing patience, endurance and self composure. I don't think being at the protest was wrong; I wish I could have been there to be part of the 'greater good' and look at these fascist bigots right in the eye myself.
But you see, I have a problem when foolish little twirps come up to such demonstrations and wreak havoc; thereby not only defeating the very 'purpose' of the endeavor but also oh so eloquently and single-handedly further defaming the image of Islam and Muslims along the media's most cherished punchlines as: "Intolerant, crazed, heaving, barbaric cretins roaming the four corners of the globe". Let alone the fact, that as per the reports by some sisters, some of these overly zealous 'Muslims' left no stone unturned in even disrespecting some of the sisters who were present there!
Now imagine that?
So I want to ask some of these ignorant masked clown-heads who went there to supposedly 'liberate' the Harrow Mosque from the clutches of utter evil and doom; what exactly did you contribute to the Muslim community in specific and Islam in general? You not only molested the very 'meaning' of the protest by raping the dignity and imagery of the Muslim community in the eyes of the world (yet again!); but also made a laughing stock and utter mockery of your ownselves in the process.
Can any of these goofs really honestly 'proclaim' that they are 'proud' of themselves? Can these nincompoops seriously concede with sheer glee that they actually made a 'difference' in 'favor' of Islam and the Muslim community? They'd have to be completely on crack to even remotely waltz within the vicinity of such an 'awe-inspiring' notion; let alone embrace its definition.
What kills me the most, is how some of the educated, tolerant and mature brothers present at the demonstration didn't even get the opportunity to let their voices be heard in a viably constructive manner; a manner that would be emblematic of what Islam and Muslims truly are, instead of the other way around.
Moreover, our problem isn't just the misery of over zealous / ignorantly emotional youth; it is infact the absence of a 'system' within the social fabric that inculcates the practice of Islamic values, morals, decorum and etiquette within the thought-process of our youngsters. This system can only be attained by collective efforts of the community in general and a solid leadership in specific.
There are just no shortcuts to it. Period!
The Neo-Nazi skin headed, pub grubbing, tattoo wielding, shandy booze gulping imbeciles at BNP, EDL, SIOE honestly triumphed this particular protest by a sweeping victory. And you know, the funny thing is they didn't even have to resort to blatant violence to accomplish precisely the very agenda that they advocate! The 'righteous' Muslims at the scene pretty much handed it all to them on a silver platter; by exhibiting exactly the 'reasons' why these anti-Islam groups in particular and the Western world in specific have a problem with Muslims and Islam.
* Clap clap, clappity clap! *
What kind of a 'noble-cause' demonstration involves throwing bottles, stones and everything but the kitchen sink; on police officers that are merely performing their duties in the effort to maintain peace and calm on the streets? Why on earth would these stupendous nut-head youth even resort to something like that; when in contrast the very opposing 'racist evil thugs' that they claimed to be 'defending' the mosque from - were far better in terms of civil and humane behavior?
The bottom line is this: as long as our youth are incapable of instilling the virtues of Islam in their daily lives from a practical point of view in 'practice'; we should find reasons for contemplation in the mere guarantee that the 'show' ain't in a thousand years ever gonna be pretty either. Afterall, everyone knows that the show ain't ever till the fat lady sings!
Wait, wha..? Who's the fatty boomba, we ask?
Lo and Behold!
'The Fat Lady' = The hideously obese and unhealthy disintegration of our social, ethical and religious anatomy; one which is en-route to a deafening explosion that won't exactly be remembered by our future generations as the best of 'songs' to have ever serenaded our collective history.
May Allah swt guide us all unto the right path, Ameen!
