September 11th 2001 brought devastation and a decade of misconceptions and discrimination towards various communities. An askew perception of Islam's law was thrust into the limelight with people questioning the teachings of its Prophet and followers.
While many Americans and global audiences only had contact with Muslims through media portrayals, others asked real questions.
Who was the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)? What was his message? Is Islam a religion of terrorism and suicide bombings?
The Peace for Humanity conference, organised by Minhaj-ul-Quran International, will present the approachable, merciful and peaceful personality of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to the wider western Muslim youth, as well as non-Muslims, and how His life and behaviour is relevant to our tense situation today.
This conference will also bring together a selection of world renowned speakers to discuss the various aspects of the life and personality of the beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Interfaith sessions are planned and a collective prayer will be held from representatives of major faith groups.
Speakers at the conference include the Shaykhs Dr Ahmad Omar Hashim, Dr `Abd al-Fadeel Al-Qawsi, Hassan Mohiuddin Qadri, Abdal Hakim Murad, Muhammad Al-Ninowy, and words from performer Mesut Kurtis and Dr. Joel Hayward.
"Let us stand together in the name of peace and reclaim Islam for its true teachings".
