Peace be with you السلام عليكم

A sister blogger Hijab Master sent me a message praising our website for using the remembrance of Allah before every post. Alhamdulillah - All praise is due to Allah.
The opening line: بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ is called the Tasmiyah in Arabic. It literally translates into English as 'Beginning (this) in the name of God, who is the most compassionate & most merciful'. To pronounce this I include the phonetic spelling:
Bism'Illaha'Rahmani 'Raheem.
It is imperative for people believing in God to begin all important tasks and small jobs with the tasmiyah. This simple line accomplishes three things:
1) It affirms the belief in One Divine Creator.
2) It attributes all work to God, that nothing could be accomplished if God didn't allow it. And
3) It testifies that there is nothing more worthy of worship, our attention, nothing more Compassionate and Merciful than God, Allah.
The Tasmiyah is written in the Quran before every single chapter and once in the content [Surah Naml - The Ant, 27:30]. To read more about the tasmiyah read Muslim Bridges.
The second opening chunk on Muslimness reads: السلام عليكم which is the Divine Greeting of Salam-peace to one another; this means 'Peace be with you, upon you' and is pronounced as: As'salam alaykum.
Believers in God are asked to greet each other with this line instead of the standard 'hi! hello! hey!' for it is a more rewarding and deeper sentiment. Giving salam strives for peace by removing negative emotions; it is good practise to give salam to everyone. It also beautifully mirrors the act in heaven, where God states He will greet the believers with salam, and they will greet other in the same.
This form of Divine greeting is mentioned in the Quran:
"When a courteous greeting is offered to you, meet it with a greeting still more courteous, or at least of equal courtesy. Allah takes careful account of all things. "
Quran, Surah An-Nisa - The Women, (4:86)

I really liked the introduction to all the Muslimness posts so I decided to incorporate it in to my posts from now on. May Allah swt reward sister Zaufishan (she is a sister right?) for the encouragement. So I want to share with you what I learned today (technically I am one day late so I am currently writing the lessons from Monday)
Lesson 1:
Lesson 1:
1) know which style of recitation you are learning and from whom
mine is the rules of tajweed of the Qur'an for the recitation of Hafs from 'Aasim by the way of Ash-shaatibiyyah. (a 3 part series) Not that the hubs prefers one or the other but he had these books readily available for me and this is the method discussed in the tajweed rules.
2) there are manners when reading the Qur'an
manners of the heart and external manners.
Manners of the Heart
External Manners
Understanding of the origin of the words
[...]
Purity of body, clothes and place

@Muslimness readers: Yes, Zaufishan is a sister.
