Right, confessionals are open. I'm being straight out honest with y'all. I can't take this hunger pang anymore. It is a great inhumane act to eat just for the sake of eating and gorge on grub, forgetting to thank Allah or share that moderately priced food. Alhamdulillah, food is a source, provision to keep going but oh my, oh boy, oh my, the lack of daily food is making me jittery, excitable and insane.
Sometimes I liken myself to the crazy cat woman from The Simpsons who lives alone wrapped in a shawl, and spontaneously combusts out of nowhere with "Argh, gubly wabblee ji, eat me mead, lagh theefabberuu, kazookey!" I exaggerate a tad but look you, I've thought about food so many times it's made my kidneys explode. There are billboards of food sales EVERYWHERE, each cafeteria sings 'come to me' and open windows emit this cooking pong that's wafted up each nostril and played tango with my stomach.
A friend calls it 'food porn' and while that's very inappropriate and I would never say that -smirk-, it is somewhat true (!) I've been dishonourably tarnished with this gnawing hunger and even during prayers, when talking about charity and the people in the streets who have less, the hunger's pounded inside like an elephant. Argh, it's so hypocritical. -throws self onto floor-
During the 14th fabulous food filled, er - faith filled fast, much work and Qur'an reading and learning 99 names of Allah has been accomplished, al'hamdulillah. -hop with glee-
I was watching some video messages before asr* salah; one speech struck a strong chord. The speaker said "Ramadan is great, of course it's going to be great when we're all incredibly hyped about it. But you know, it's a mental condition. This one month teaches us but it doesn't have to stop here. We could make every month equally great. We can make everyday like Ramadan".
Singer Dawud Wharnsy - (who's really a Pakistani, he can sing in URDU) - also said the same 'everyday should be like Ramadan' line in his nasheed 'We've scanned the sky'.
I then 'mopingly' watched Barack Obama's Ramadan Cream speech again.. hmmm cream... Ahem, erm, yes, the speech - I thought it was a nice gesture masha'Allah. Obama's pronunciation of Arabic words is right on and he puts ex-President George Bush the Second to shame. I miss George Bush's stupidity now; how can we get comedy of a smart intellectual and cultured man like Obama? I'm sure leaders everywhere have been converted by his personality into trusting USA's ethical abilities though... Maybe. Have you seen it? No? Click onto this White House website link to watch it.
I prayed all the 5 daily salat although I read asr* late. I'd like to be at a stage where I can read them all on time, slowly and have time for more prayers in between. It's a good thing Prophet Musa (as) told Prophet Muhammad (saw) to return to Allah for a discounted Salah. There's no way on planet Earth we would have managed the original 50! It's shameful enough with 5. Tsk. Subhan'Allah.
I saw an advert on the internet of a chicken wrap and peach and yoghurt desert. I nearly licked the screen. ...Moving on!
Time was spent in between the food porn thoughts on working on some cartoon designs. I wish to insha'Allah make a comic strip like cartoon, colourful but non-preachy where a Muslim character is the lead female role. A fantastical brother is developing the ideas for me so I'm his little Muslimness designer hoping to reach expectations. Working for someone else is weird. Anyway, here are the very early-early preliminary facial expression portfolio draft ONE I scribbled with marker pens:
It's not much and of course they lack masses of depth, colouring, styling and tone. I'll get there insha'Allah.
I must be off now, people to attack, things to eat and what not. It's suhoor in a couple of hours for me here in England. I think I will eat with my eyes more than the tongue.
