A Poetical Fast (day 4)

I must say, as Ramadan goes on, the spirit is finally beginning to show in the people and the community, as well as my own. It really didn’t feel like Ramadan when it began but now the fasting, Quran and increased worship is becoming routine.
One of the defining points of the fourth fast wasn’t to do with me (my day was actually pretty mundane). Actually, it was about my older brother. Remember when he said he’ll make more Salah from now on? It seems that Alhamdulillah, the influential aura that Ramadan emits is appearing to slowly affect him. Today, he made all 5 Salah including Taraweeh, masha’Allah!
Usually he rarely has time for prayer but now he’s insha’Allah making baby steps towards a real Islamic lifestyle. He was telling me that he’s going to aim for all five prescribed prayers every day of his life... now usually I’m a sceptic towards all this, since well, most people phase out of the ‘holy’ state when Ramadan is over.
But I’m hoping my brother really is changing for good this year. His worries towards college, university and his career aspirations are beginning to wane out as he’s beginning to accept Allah’s master plan, and he’s fully focused on his dream to be a PE teacher; amongst serving our parents and making ‘a good name’ for them. Insha’Allah.
It does feel nice, to be able to see the essence of change beginning to bloom inside someone else. Watching from afar, I can only pray this will revolutionize his life and bring him closer to the right path!
The Iftari meal was erm, interesting, to say the least. I guess it’s hard to be able to break your fast when you have a 15 month old baby brother running around, trying to pinch your food and complain (loudly) when we resist. But it’s all good natured fun and it keeps the house lively, Alhamdulillah.
Apart from that, my day went quite... smoothly. Salah, regular Quran and Taraveeh are becoming routine and I’m just busying myself with university preparations too.
And then I’ll realise how short this month really is...
