Aafia Siddiqui's Ramadan In A Texas Prison

While Muslims around the globe enjoy the freedom of Ramadan's ceremonies in the security of their homes, Pakistani neuroscientist Dr. Aafia Siddiqui will spend her 9th year in total isolation in a Texas prison facility.

The Justice for Aafia Coalition (JFAC), a major organisation behind attempting to bring justice, has diligently raised awareness of the torturous treatments used on Dr. Aafia. Just who is Aafia? What is her story, and why was she sentenced to an unprecedented 86 years in September 2010 for a crime she never committed? These are the questions that JFAC want answering.

This year JFAC are hosting an iftar evening in Peterborough, UK, to fundraise for the doctor's case. In an emotional presentation about a Muslim mother's broken life, Ilyas Townsend and Dr. Uthman Lateef will shed light on why after 7 years of detention and abuse, Aafia will complete another Ramadhan alone, and spend her `Eid alone.

Qur'an recitation will be prominent at the fundraising iftar event with a chance for attendees to write directly to Aafia with JFAC's new exclusive Ramadhan and `Eid postcards.

"Be her voice. Stand with Aafia today."

Date: Saturday 20th August 2011  |  Time: 6pm until Maghrib

Venue: Gladstone Park Community Centre, Bourges Boulevard, Peterborough, PE1 2AN

Speakers: Ilyas Townsend (JFAC)  | Ustadh Dr. Uthman Lateef (Hittin Institute)
