In the name of God, compassionate & merciful بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ | Peace be with you السلام عليكم
Ya Muqalib al-qaloob Thabit Qalbi aladeenik.
‘O the Controller of hearts! Make my heart firm on Your Deen.’ (Tirmidhi)
When feeling down and away from Allah, it is usually due to not remembering him, and though I don’t wish to admit or believe it, it’s the truth. Therefore it’s necessary to seek forgiveness to remove that layer of ‘rust’ from the heart, so you connect to Allah again. Read this when you're closest to Allah, in sujud:
Allahuma Inaka Afuwun Karimun tuhibul afwa Fa’fu anni.
‘O Allah you are forgiving, you love to forgive so forgive me.’
And this specific adhkaar (remembrance of Allah) is so easy to say, it really does flow off your tongue, and I love saying it whilst falling asleep, or waiting somewhere. It’s an excellent time killer!
Prophet Muhammad said: "Two words are light on the tongue, weigh heavily in the balance (of good deeds); they are loved by the Most Merciful One." And they are:
SubhanAllahi wa biHamdihi, Subhan-Allahi 'l-`adheem.
'Glory be to Allah, and Praise, Glory be to Allah, the Supreme.’
It’s like talking to God, and connecting to Him when we make prayers, His "arms" are always open. He holds the inexhaustible treasures of the world, yet why do we turn to him right at the end of our troubles, and not the beginning? We should turn to Allah first! Reconnect with Allah! Remember those ad'deyah (dua's) insha'Allah!
