I had to mention this. It annoys me to the point of idiocy. Read below and you'll see what I'm getting at.

The U.K. is using The Simpsons as an unlikely platform to promote healthy eating and fight obesity among British families. Of all the iconic figures possible, the old sods have stooped in choosing the most American obese cartoons possible. The Road Runner would have worked equally well, or Speedy Gonzales or even the Palestinian Sesame St kids...
As part of their Change4Life campaign, the British Department of Health (remember them fellow Britons? they're the ones spreading infection with our taxes) began running ads at the opening of sponsored episodes of the long-running series on U.K. TV network Channel 4! Of course, the noble and articulate Channel 4!
The ads, made by the creators of Wallace and Gromit, show the Simpson family crammed onto their sofa, eating ice cream and chips, reminiscent of the standard opening. But then the junk food suddenly transforms into healthy fruits and vegetables. The ads will cost the government £640,000 (about $1 million).
Are you kidding me? $1 million dollars on damned advertisments? That cash could be put into community centres, to renovating play areas, to sending an ice-cream van into the streets selling the fruit instead of cultivating audiences' minds with box poison. Dear Lord...
The campaign began running yesterday (Oct. 5) on Channel 4 and will last until Christmas Day 2009. Here's hoping the overweight have enough arm power to click the channel over and watch Delia Smith toss a salad.
