Follow responses through With the rise in security concerns these days and ever-so-busy schedules, Manchester Airport has installed "Naked Scanners." These scanners work on the principle of bouncing Electromagnetic (Em) waves off human skin and then detecting them. Contrary to the conventional 'pat down' approach where travelers had to remove their jackets, shoes, belts and other items of clothing, this breakthrough in technology (not to mention, people's privacy) will allow a clear photograph of the person's entire body to be drawn. While authorities state that the photos produced will be viewed by only one operator in a remote location -before being destroyed - we know, from experience that large multi-national corporations and authorities are not to be trusted in this regard. Each day brings a greater challenge for this Ummah, ever-greater sacrifices have to be made but life's a test, and let's hope we stay strong, till the very end.
The aforementioned scanners are currently on a 1 year trial and based on their success (or lack thereof) will be installed as a permanent solution. On the bright side, it is currently optional for travelers to choose either this method or opt for the traditional 'pat down' searching at the expense of speedy processing. Question is, what will you choose? Let us hear your thoughts.
